My Story
“When I joined, I didn’t disclose my religion. I thought there might be some negativity around me being Muslim. It’s very important to me to be able to pray at the mosque with my grandfather at sunrise for Eid, the end of Ramadan. When I told my divisional staff I was Muslim, they were more than supportive, talked with everyone about my faith and set aside a prayer room for me on base. I was met with just general curiosity, no judgement. I’m still one of the guys, I just share a different belief.”
